Inspiration

We all know the feeling of looking for classes and professors that best fit our needs. While many students use websites such as TAMU grade distribution, such websites do not streamline the data to show the best possible professors for your needs. Reveille Ranking does this in a seamless way by allowing users to input whole schedules and get the top three professors for each class.

What it does

Reveille Rankings uses data from past TAMU classes and GPAs to list the top three professors based on GPA. Users are allowed to input their whole schedule plan to see which professor they should take for their degree plan.

How we built it

We used Pandas to manipulate the data and output top three professors. We also used PyQT to program UI for our project.

Challenges we ran into

Our initial idea was to use HTML to program the UI of the application. However, we quickly realized that Python does not integrate well with HTML. We then switched UI to Python to allow for a seamless UI experience.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the functionality of the app. We are proud that we were able to get the correct order of professors as well as output graphs that analyze professor data.

What we learned

We learned how to better use Pandas and matplotlib . We also learned how to create a completely functioning application that works across operating systems and analyzes user input and produces aesthetically pleasing and useful outputs.

What's next for Reveille Rankings!

We hope to add photos of the professors in our UI. We also hope to add RateMyProfessor data to our app so that we include both reviews, difficulty ratings, and quality ratings for each professor.
