Inspiration

Being university students, financial literacy is of great importance, seeing as costs continue to rise and we must be ever so responsible with our money. We believe gamifying such concepts makes it easier to digest the information while being entertained.

What it does

Teaches you about Financial literacy through a gamified process. We present users with quizzes regarding financial literacy. Upon completing a certain amount of quizzes, your tree grows a little bit. This is reminiscent of the popular trend way back in the day called TamaGotchi, where you had to take care of your digital pet. Here you take care of your digital tree by staying informed and educated daily with regards to financial literacy. And it adapts to your current spending.

How we built it

We used a mix of Vanilla JS, HTML 5 and CSS with Tailwind CSS, React and GSAP JS(for animations). For the backend we have used flask.

Challenges we ran into

It was very hard integrating flask and react. And CSS has never been easy.

The design and look of our project. Our team spirit. How we overcame the challenges of using flask to deploy our react app.

What's next for Tamagotree

Future iterations involve using three.js for the tree animations. Our inspiration is to revolutionize finance knowledge how Duolingo revolutionized and gamified language learning. We also intend to expand the curriculum and be more adaptive to each individuals financial situation/current level in financial literacy. We will be integrating AI for allowing customized advice for our users. And much more we will talk about in the booth!
