🐍 How We Used Python

Python powered nearly all of the backend and AI functionality of TamaGoStudy:

Sentence Transformers (Hugging Face): converted notes into vector embeddings for semantic search based on meaning rather than keywords
Google Gemini API: generated AI-powered flashcards and adaptive quizzes from user notes and materials
MediaPipe: used for face landmark detection and head tracking for cheating detection prototype
FastAPI: backend framework providing REST APIs connecting frontend, AI services, and database

Challenge: Balancing gamification with educational value
Solution: Introduced daily quests and XP rewards to encourage consistent studying instead of distraction

Challenge: Sprite animation inaccuracies
Solution: Mapped animations separately within the sprite sheet for correct rendering

Challenge: AI cheating detection false positives
Solution: Added a flagging system for teacher review instead of automatic penalties

Challenge: Semantic search limitations
Solution: Used vector embeddings to enable meaning-based search instead of keyword matching
