Inspiration

Talkkit was born from the personal struggles our team experienced with traditional language learning methods. We realized that while many apps focused on grammar and vocabulary, very few helped learners improve their speaking skills effectively. We wanted to create a tool that helps people break the fear of speaking in a foreign language, providing real-time feedback in a stress-free environment.

What it does

Talkkit is an AI-powered language learning app where users engage in both written and spoken conversations with a 3D avatar. The app offers real-time feedback on pronunciation, grammar, and fluency. Users can practice speaking about any topic they want, go through role plays, and explore new vocabulary, all while getting instant feedback and a summary at the end of each session. It’s designed to make language practice natural and engaging.

How we built it

We used cutting-edge AI technologies and machine learning models to power the real-time feedback feature, ensuring that users get accurate and constructive input. Our development process involved creating a dynamic 3D avatar, which makes conversations feel more interactive and lifelike. We also integrated intelligent vocabulary suggestions and topic-based chats, making it easier for users to tailor their learning experience to their interests.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was developing a system that could accurately detect pronunciation issues and grammatical mistakes in real-time. Additionally, ensuring that the 3D avatar provided a natural and engaging experience without feeling too robotic was another key obstacle. We had to work hard to balance advanced AI with user-friendliness to keep learners motivated.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're incredibly proud of having built an app that solves a real problem for language learners. Seeing users gain confidence in their speaking abilities through Talkkit has been the most rewarding part of our journey. Also, integrating AI and 3D technology into an educational tool that’s both effective and fun is a big win for us.

What we learned

We’ve also seen how powerful AI can be in making education more accessible and personalized. Lastly, we’ve gained a deep understanding of the technical complexities involved in building an app that feels intuitive yet sophisticated.

What's next for Talkkit

The next step is to expand Talkkit’s language offerings and further refine the AI’s ability to provide tailored feedback. We also plan to introduce new features like virtual buddy and gamification elements to make the learning process even more engaging. Our ultimate goal is to become the go-to app for anyone looking to improve their speaking skills in any language.
