Inspiration
Inspiration for this product came from my and my team's struggle, When I was working in a startup during the lockdown, I and my team faced many issues in our communication. We were texting, sharing meetings link, and if forget to update something to the team than have to wait for next meeting or have to text them.
What it does
It's a real-time communication platform build for remote teams. I have seen platforms like tandem but while using them they need immediate availability of the other person which eradicates the benefits of remote working. And Talkie overcomes this issue, it provides an async mode for communication in which you can send audio messages and the user will able to hear that whenever he gets back to work. Talkie keeps hovering on your desktop and you can do your work while communicating.
How we built it
I researched the technologies used in building desktop apps. Found some frameworks which build a hybrid desktop application and finally decided to go with Electron.
Challenges we ran into
The major challenges I faced were in the implementation of sockets and AWS as these were new to me and I was learning them side by side building the product.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The accomplishment that I was proud of is that when we talked to many remote teams their response was very positive towards this product and we gained 150+ teams signed for our product use.
What we learned
We learned a lot during this product as it was my first SAAS product and I learned how to market it and build it.
What's next for Talkie.team
We have made a complete one-year roadmap for us which includes chrome extensions, integrations with different platforms, mobile app, etc.
