Talkable: Every word matters

Talkable is a revolutionary application designed to bridge communication gaps for individuals with disabilities, specifically those who are deaf or mute. The app combines several powerful features, enabling users to engage in meaningful conversations through a combination of emoji-based selection, text-to-speech, and speech-to-text technology. With AI-enhanced interaction and accessibility tools, Talkable ensures that users are not limited by their disabilities but have the chance to understand and be understood with ease.

During the last few years, a mute and deaf girl used to come in our school bus. She used to write down on a piece of paper to communicate with us and often struggled with understanding others or being understood. She inspired us to create a program where these sort of difficulties are addressed like this.

Accomplishments that we're proud of:

Being high schoolers, it was definitely hard considering that we had no experience with hackathons. However, we were easily able to execute a full program in our First Hackathon.

Talkable creates an inclusive environment where communication is no longer a barrier, regardless of the user’s disability. It empowers mute individuals to speak up, deaf individuals to listen and understand, and enables everyone to interact with confidence in a variety of settings—whether at home, in education, or in the workplace.

With TalkAble, the world becomes a more accessible place where everyone has a voice.
