Inspiration

The idea for Talk to Legends was born during a visit to a museum exhibit featuring Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. The exhibit was trying to simulate a conversation with him using pre-recorded answers — it was fascinating but limited. That’s when the spark hit:

“What if people could actually talk to historical legends in real time, and the legends could respond intelligently, in their own voice and personality?”

This project is a tribute to the changemakers of history — giving people a chance to experience their wisdom interactively through AI.

What it does

Talk to Legends is an AI-powered web application where users can have lifelike conversations with historical figures like Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Bhagat Singh, Swami Vivekananda, and others.

Key features:

🧑‍⚖️ Chat with historical legends in their own persona and tone.

🧠 Personalized responses based on each figure’s philosophy, life events, and speeches using custom-trained embeddings.

🎙️ Voice replies using AI-generated speech (coming soon).

🌐 Multilingual support to make it accessible to a wider audience - coming soon.

💬 Sample questions and guided conversations to keep users engaged.

How we built it

Frontend:

Next.js + Tailwind CSS for responsive UI

Framer Motion for micro-interactions and page transitions

React Query for managing async data

Backend:

Next js for Apis

Postgresql for storing user queries and analytics

Auth with nextauth

AI Stack:

Groq for LLM responses

ElevenLabs (coming soon) for text-to-speech in the legend's voice

Challenges we ran into

Contextual accuracy: Making sure each legend only answers based on their life, without going off-brand.

Creating clean datasets: Preparing curated content for each legend to avoid hallucinations or generic responses.

Balancing creativity and sensitivity: Ensuring historical accuracy and respecting cultural nuances was tricky but important.

Latency: Managing real-time interaction speed with multiple AI services was a technical balancing act.
