Inspiration

We were inspired by the idea of giving every young footballer a fair chance to be discovered by clubs, coaches, and fans, no matter where they are. We wanted to create a modern, social, and interactive football platform.

What it does

TalentKick allows users to share football videos, follow other players, comment, like, and receive notifications. It offers two main feeds: "Following" (content from people you follow) and "Discover" (videos from the whole community).

How we built it

We built TalentKick using React Native and Expo for the mobile app, and Supabase for the backend, authentication, and video storage. We focused on a clean UI and smooth video experience.

Challenges we ran into

Optimizing video playback performance and real-time updates for likes and comments was challenging. Ensuring a seamless experience across devices and handling storage for large videos also required creative solutions.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of building a stable, interactive, and modern football app from scratch, and creating a smooth video feed experience similar to global social platforms.

What we learned

We learned about advanced video handling in React Native, efficient state management, and the challenges of integrating real-time features with Supabase. We also gained a lot of experience in UI/UX design for social apps.

What's next for TalentKick

We plan to add advanced features like AI-powered player analytics, in-app messaging, club verification, and more ways for players to get discovered.
