What we did

Develop a 2D RPG-esque that drives positive change through educating players in an interactive way on the importance of public health.

Inspiration

NASA home experiments for making water filters and stories about polluted water across the world.

What it does

Currently, it is a game that teaches the player how to make a water filter.

How we built it

The program was built using Godot.

Challenges we ran into

Frequent issues we ran into were Git merges and the general learning of Godot for the first time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite the tight deadline and our limited technical knowledge, we were able to develop a well-working game. Within a few hours we were able to make a moving character on the map with proper boundaries, have a dialogue between characters , and update it based on the world state.

What we learned

The hackathon was a good learning experience for all of us since our knowledge on Godot and GitHub increased. Furthermore, we gained collaborative skills while creating a quality game.

What's next for Tale of the Nurse

To further achieve its potential, we plan to build on the implementations we currently have. We plan to execute our other ideas and mechanics such as: different levels of public health issues, let the character have different stats, and have more educational mini-games.
