Inspiration

The inspiration behind takeMed stems from a deep concern for the well-being of seniors, recognizing the challenges they face in managing their medication regimens. We aimed to bridge the gap between forgetfulness and medication adherence, leveraging technology to enhance the quality of life for seniors by providing a simple yet effective reminder system.

What it does

takeMed is a comprehensive medication reminder application designed specifically for seniors. Using Twilio for messaging, Flask for backend functionality, Auth0 for authentication, and React for the frontend, takeMed ensures a seamless user experience. The app sends timely reminders to seniors, helping them stay on track with their medication schedules.

How we built it

We adopted a multi-faceted approach to building takeMed. The frontend, developed using React, provides an intuitive and user-friendly interface. Twilio was integrated to facilitate SMS reminders, ensuring that seniors receive timely notifications. Flask served as the backbone of our application, handling backend logic efficiently. Authentication was implemented through Auth0 to guarantee a secure and personalized experience for each user. Our CI/CD pipeline, powered by Taipy, streamlined the development process, enabling rapid iterations and improvements. We also used MongoDB for storing and querying historical data for analytics purposes.

Challenges we ran into

During the development of takeMed, we encountered several challenges. Integrating different technologies and ensuring their seamless interaction presented a learning curve. Managing authentication securely and handling real-time messaging required careful consideration. Overcoming these challenges demanded collaborative problem-solving and a deep dive into the intricacies of the chosen technologies.
