Inspiration

One of the members of the team is a dog owner and realized that in some parts of the world, dog owners are facing a serious issue of finding pals for their furry friends. This is where our project comes into play.

What it does

Connects dogs with other dogs based on proximity and favorite activity. Allows users to discover popular dog-walking trails.

How we built it

For the project, we divided various tasks to different members of the team. One member took on the responsibility for the frontend of our website and managed the rest while two others worked on the backend and databases. The fourth worked on UI design and Styling. Talking about the technologies used, the backend is written mostly in Python and connected with MongoDB for databases deployed through MongoDB Atlas. The frontend uses javascript, react, HTML, and CSS and it communicates with the backend as JSON modules and the web program is packaged up using docker deployed on GCP.

Challenges we ran into

Being this the first Hackathon for all members of our group, one of the biggest challenges that we ran into was the difference of ideas and deciding on which ideas were more feasible and useful with the given time restriction.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The biggest accomplishment that all of us are proud of is that we were able to create a working web application with all the desired features that we planned.

What we learned

Along with great problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment, each one of us learned various skills and useful technologies that are very useful in programming.
