AN attempt has been made by switching from mailing psychical refund warrants to a refund of credit card charges, to bring up the percentage of applicants that actually get their license fee back after not pulling a tag. The system promises refunds within 30 days, but hundreds reach out every year, complaining they have not received their refund, and many do not even bother. By creating an option for hunters to apply and pay for their license using cryptocurrency, facilitated by smart contracts, an immediate return of the fee could be guaranteed. This could open up the office staffs valuable time, generating saving that could go to conservation. Additionally if the system inspires confidence in hunters that they will see their licensing fee again, additional funds could be generated from fees from an increase in applications.
