TagAlong is an NFC tagging system designed to assist neurodivergent individuals, such as those with ADHD and autism, in keeping track of essential items like keys and wallets. By using an Android phone to scan tagged items before leaving, users receive alerts if any item is missing, reducing stress and enhancing daily routines.
Inspiration
Recognizing the challenges neurodivergent individuals face with executive functioning, including forgetfulness and task initiation difficulties, we developed TagAlong to provide a practical solution for managing essential belongings.
What It Does
TagAlong allows users to attach NFC tags to important items and, through a simple scan with their Android device, ensures all tagged items are accounted for before they leave, sending alerts if anything is missing.
How We Built It
We utilized Vue.js for the scanning functionality and dashboard implementation, integrating Firebase for real-time database management and user authentication.

Challenges We Ran Into
Integrating NFC technology with Vue.js and ensuring seamless communication with Firebase presented technical challenges, particularly in maintaining real-time responsiveness and cross-device compatibility.
Accomplishments That We're Proud Of
Successfully establishing a reliable connection between NFC tags and the Android platform, and creating an intuitive user interface that simplifies the process of tracking essential items.
What We Learned
Through this project, we deepened our understanding of integrating hardware features with web technologies, enhancing our skills in Vue.js and Firebase, and gained insights into the specific needs of neurodivergent users.
What's Next for TagAlong
Future iterations of TagAlong aim to introduce a doorframe scanner that automatically detects tagged items as users exit, eliminating the need for manual scans and further streamlining the process. Once, enough capital has been acquired, we push notification by obtaining Google Cloud Credits and Updating the plan. Additionally, we plan to expand compatibility to include iOS devices, pending advancements in NFC capabilities on the platform.
