We love food. We eat it every day. Starting at a young age, we devoted our lives to food. We love the beauty, intricacy, and emotion that food provides. Food brings people together. It serves as a waypoint for different milestones in various cultures. With this, we wanted to provide potential taco and burrito shop owners with a platform to find an optimal location and price point in their preferred city for their shop to stay competitive.
What it does
Our app allows users to input their cuisine type and preferred city, and shows them which zip code in the city is the best for this type of restaurant, highlights competitors on a map, and states what prices are competitive for burritos and tacos.
How I built it
Lots of caffeine, adrenaline, and code.
Challenges I ran into
It was most of our first time using pandas, and one of our teammates spent 4 hours in a sleep deprived state fixing a single pandas bug. Our CFO(Chief Frontend Officer) also shared similar issues, but with Leaflet instead of Pandas.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Filling holes in a given, uncleaned dataset, using external Google Cloud APIs, Pandas data processing, and competitive market analysis.
What I learned
What's next for Taco 'bout It
Scaling this across the restaurant industry. This app currently only works for tacos and burritos. We hope to include other popular food groups in the future, such as pizza and donuts.
