Tackling National Inequality in the Space Economy

The space economy is dominated by a few countries, leaving smaller ones without benefits. We propose a system where they unite to fund joint missions, and share equal access to the new space age.

Inspiration

Our inspiration for the project was to solve the problem of national inequality within the space economy and we were inspired by existing models such as the European space Agency.

What it does

The project matches smaller countries with other smaller countries that aren't heavily involved in the space economy and helps them pool their resources to fund a space mission.

How we built it

We used python and pandas to get inputs from the user and create the system.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into the problem of data gaps in our data base and had to determine how to navigate technology sharing limitations.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of developing a feasible framework for countries to use and using real data about spending and capacity in order to create the system.

What we learned

We learned that data-driven decisions are important to create fair systems and also that using GDP based contribution systems allows transparent allocation of funds.

What's next for Tackling National Inequality in the Space Economy

We will focus on testing the system against different cases and actually implementing it within smaller countries.
