Inspiration

The goal of TABU app is to teach about investing and stocks in a risk-free way to make better financial decisions in the real world.

What it does

The go-to solution provides a platform for users to learn about investing. Stocks are chosen based on several criteria, such as lifestyle preferences, budget and risk tolerance. We believe that users will trust the stocks of companies they know. TABU app makes investing not taboo anymore.

How we built it

The main page is built on top of NextJS framework. For styling, we used Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui for the components to mimic the design of Tatrabanka as much as possible to make the future transition smoother. Data are stored in an in-memory database. For fetching the stock data, we used Finnhub.io API.

Challenges we ran into

Our challenge was to find APIs that would provide us with the necessary and accurate data for our app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The unique selling point of our TABU app is, that the platform is designed to resemble the UI of the real bank (the challenge publisher), so the user gets to know the ecosystem and can easily transition to the real bank after this experience. The second functionality we are proud of is simulating predictions of the stock prices for the next year, incorporating data from past years. We also provide hypothetical events which are affecting the prices and users can decide how to react to them.

What we learned

We embraced communication and teamwork. Also, we learned some new insights from the stock market, and how to make the app user-friendly and educative.

What's next for TABU

Our goal would be to even strengthen the educational character of the TABU application, bring more features and also incorporate an AI chatbot that would be able to answer questions in real-time.
