Inspiration

Being one of the many who have too many tabs open at a time to keep track of what is what, we decided that this was a daily struggle that could be improved for millions of people through the creation of TabSurfer.

What it does

TabSurfer provides a framework for users to save their tabs in workspaces, that they can open at the click of a button. Our project is also platform-independent, enabling users to take their tabs and browsing sessions wherever necessary, without the hassle of having to find, save, or open links, instead we allow users to open up their entire session in the click of a button.

How we built it

For our website, we used Next.js with typescript, and used Clerk's authentication API to manage logins and signups.

Challenges we ran into

One big struggle we faced, was updating the data across all the pages. In addition, we started with half the timer as our first idea (which turned out to be a bit too ambitious) didn't workout for us.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud our UI, as well as our ability to create this project with such little time. Working on the project during the night was quite the challenge, but we persevered through it to create TabSurfer.

What we learned

We learned about APIs, and about hooks---a concept used in react and next.js---which helped us improve the functionality of our website. We also looked a fair amount into color themes, and the aspects that make a User Experience unique and enjoyable.

What's next for TabSurfer

We want to be able to make this a full fledged web application. We have steps for this goal, such as creating a more secure and developed backend system.
