A table tennis focused 1v1 ELO bracket system. This system would be similar to what is seen in chess with "skill based" matchmaking.

What Inspired Us

The idea came when thinking of projects that could help or clubs back at The University of Texas at Dallas. Many club sports at our school do not have a fleshed-out system that they could use for tournaments or club rankings. We wanted to create something that would help seed players in tournaments based on skill level. This is useful for new players especially since they do not know where they fit in on the roster. Our Student Union building also has tt tables that are used quite often so creating a local bracket system for people not in clubs could also be created in the future using this app.

How we built it

We used React to build our front-end application and used Express.js as our back-end application. We also used Google Firebase as our database of choice because the ease of use and availability.

Challenges We Faced

We faced nearly every challenge there was for this project. We are all pretty new to hackathons and are only sophmores in college. We do not have very much experience in any of the technologies we used if at all. This was the first time creating a react app, using express as a backend, using firebase, and even deploying an app. This made a lot of the process for us a learning marathon which made it difficult to always stay on top of things without getting confused about the steps.

I worked on the back-end, more particularly with the Firebase database. I am still very new to all of this especially since it was my first time deploying a web app which was a challenge.

Neil Rathod
This was my first hackathon, so working backend with node.js and express.js was challenging and there seems to be a lot of magic that I don't quite understand right now, but I look forward to understanding more with the current javascript knowledge I have. I was involved in the planning processes and helped a lot with the flow chart and the ideas.

I worked on the front-end. It was my first time using React, which was a little intimidating, but I learned a lot.

Daniel Lee
This was my first hackathon, and first attempt at building a web app. I worked on the front-end of our app with Daniel. It was my first time using react, so I learned a lot despite being overwhelmed. I also enjoyed learning how to use git and github in a small team.
