Inspiration

I just to build something that makes it easier for freelancer and client to be able to transact easily with fair odds of refund on both sides freelancers and artisans are asked to trust strangers and either they work first and chase the money, or the client pays first and hopes the work gets done. Disputes come weeks later, when the chat, the files and the dates are scattered across phones.

What it does

Chat → deal.* Paste the client conversation, or upload WhatsApp screenshots. AI drafts the deal: client, milestones, amounts, due dates, and whether it's digital or on-site work.

  1. The client pays - PayPal holds it. Each milestone is a PayPal order with intent: AUTHORIZE: the money is reserved on the client's account, not sent.
  2. The work is delivered - AI checks the real thing. Files are fingerprinted (SHA-256), links are fetched by the server, and the AI compares the actual content with the agreement. The freelancer's description alone can never count as "verified".
  3. The client approves - PayPal releases it. Only the person who paid (holding a secret review key) can approve, or ask for fixes. If they stay silent past the review period, a delivery the AI verified can be released by the freelancer. The payment is captured and forwarded to the freelancer's own PayPal account with PayPal Payouts.
  4. If the client disputes, PayPal's webhook tells Tabby, the AI builds an evidence pack from the deal's record, and Tabby sends it to PayPal.

How we built it

Tabby was built using **CSS, typescript and also node.js with the help of cluade

Challenges we ran intoin some difficult areas.

One major issue I had was being able to access paypal developer dashbaord because it was requesting I create an account with paypal which isn;t easy here in nigeria.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud the project is up and running effectively and if I can make it to the world, people outside the country acn effectively and with peace of mind give jobs to people in nigeria because they will be abke to confirm the work is done with either with AI, anyone around or they themselves looking at the imaged or video of what is being done.

What we learned

What I have learnt is basically how to an app communicate with a fintech app such as paypal and also to be able to integrate some of their functions into tabby such as when a dispute is filed on paypal and it shows on tabby and also that tabby helps the freelancer or artisans to gather evidence for submission to paypal

What's next for Tabby

what I will love to add to tabby is to be able to receive money into other banks from paypal, the client pays through paypal and the freelancer can receive the money directly to their bannk seeing that some freelancers might not be able to use payapal making easy for them to be abe to use the app but people in other countries easily uses paypal
