About T&C Checker
Often, when we visit various sites and platforms, we’re asked to agree to Terms and Conditions. These are usually long, filled with legal jargon, and let’s face it—most of us don’t have the time or patience to read through them. So, we just click "Accept" and move on.
But what if, buried in that dense text, there’s a clause that says, “You agree to share your personal photos for our marketing purposes” or “You agree to an annual charge of $50 for using this platform”? Since we didn’t read it, we might unknowingly agree to terms that could cause problems later. To help users avoid this, I’ve created T&C Checker, a simple and easy-to-use Chrome extension.
With T&C Checker, you don’t have to struggle through such lengthy T&Cs. The extension quickly scans the Terms and Conditions for you and highlights important, potentially risky, harmful, or sneaky clauses. It doesn’t just point them out—it explains them in plain, simple terms so that you can understand what they actually mean for you.
Here’s how it works: Whenever you come across a Terms and Conditions page online, just select the text you want to analyze. Click the T&C Checker extension in your browser toolbar. Hit the Analyze button. Within seconds, you’ll receive short, clear explanations of any important clauses that require your attention. No effort, no confusion—just instant awareness of what you’re signing up for. You’ll know right away if there are any terms that could affect you, without spending any additional time or effort.
Tech used
This extension uses Prompt API for chrome extension to run a nano AI model directly within the browser. However, if a user’s device does not support the model or if any technical issues arise, T&C Checker seamlessly switches to a fallback mechanism that connects to Google’s Gemini Flash model via an API. This ensures that the analysis remains reliable and accessible for all users, regardless of device constraints.
