Inspiration
As fresh graduates, we noticed a gap between knowing what role we want and knowing how to actually prepare for it. Most platforms either list jobs or provide generic learning resources, but none connect job data, skill gaps, interview preparation, and progress tracking into a single guided flow. CareerChase was built to bridge this gap.
What We Built
CareerChase is an end-to-end career preparation platform that guides users from role discovery to interview readiness. Beyond standard job matching, our focus was on helping users act on insights through structured roadmaps, interview practice, and measurable progress tracking.
What Makes CareerChase Stand Out
- Interview Preparation Module: We added a dedicated mock interview feature where questions are categorized by domain and role, allowing users to practice in a focused and realistic way rather than generic Q&A.
- Progress Tracking Dashboard: Users can visualize their readiness over time. This transforms career preparation from a static checklist into a measurable process.
- AI Career Assistant: An embedded AI copilot provides contextual guidance across the platform — helping users clarify skill gaps, understand roadmap steps, and get instant explanations without leaving the page.
- Data-Driven Decisions: Real job datasets are used to identify required skills, recommend learning paths, and ground suggestions in actual market demand rather than assumptions.
How We Built It
The frontend is built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for simplicity and fast iteration. The backend uses Flask to expose APIs and power the AI assistant. Job and skill datasets are processed locally to drive matching logic, interview content, and roadmap recommendations.
Challenges & Learnings
One of our main challenges was integrating AI into a static web interface without overcomplicating the architecture. We learned how to design lightweight APIs, manage local hosting, and ensure smooth interaction between frontend components and backend logic. This project helped us understand how real-world products balance usability, data, and intelligence.
Why It Matters
CareerChase does not just tell users where they stand — it shows them how to move forward. By combining job data, AI guidance, interview practice, and progress tracking, we aimed to create a practical tool that reduces uncertainty and gives fresh graduates confidence in their career journey.
