Inspiration

As freshmen one of the first things we saw on campus was how sick everyone was. There was a time when almost everyone in all our classes was coughing. We wanted to think of a way to protect the community and stop more people from getting sick.

What it does

The Website takes in survey data to track sicknesses and symptoms of sickness in different buildings on campus. The website then compiles the data so that the university can take measures to protect students

How we built it

We built it in React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Python. We started with a react framework and started building from there adding on more of each file as needed for the project. EX: for data simulation, we added our Python file.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into a plethora of issues in our code and issues in how the hosting the website. We navigated these issues by working together to debug and looking up solutions for the issues.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of staying up for 24 hours and making a fully functional site with many front and back-end capabilities.

What we learned

We improved tons in our frontend development abilities with C++, HTML, and React. As well as we got much more experience in coding generally.

What's next for Syracuse University Health Tracker

We have a meeting with a professor in Global Public Health who focuses on disease prevention. We hope that we can apply the data we retrieved the help the community and limit the spread of disease in the future.
