Synora
Inspiration
Synora was inspired by a problem I personally experience as a student: procrastination followed by unrealistic overplanning. Many students create study schedules that look productive but are difficult to maintain consistently. Over time, these schedules become overwhelming and students fall behind, leading to stress and burnout.
I wanted to build a system that creates realistic and adaptive study plans instead of rigid timetables. The goal was to design a platform that understands a student’s workload, availability, study habits, and personal preferences to generate schedules that are actually sustainable.
What it does
Synora is an AI-powered student productivity dashboard that helps students organize their academic life in one place.
The platform:
- Generates personalized study timetables
- Tracks assignments and deadlines
- Adapts study sessions based on workload and availability
- Prioritizes difficult subjects and upcoming deadlines
- Supports different study styles such as night owls and early birds
- Allows students to generate quizzes for revision
- Provides a centralized productivity dashboard for students
Instead of forcing students into fixed schedules, Synora creates adaptive study plans designed around real-life constraints and habits.
How we built it
We built Synora using a prompt-engineering workflow with MeDo to rapidly prototype and develop the platform.
The application combines:
- A responsive dashboard UI
- Calendar-based scheduling
- Student personalization logic
- Adaptive timetable generation
- AI-assisted quiz generation
The scheduling system uses weighted prioritization to balance:
- Subject difficulty
- Assignment urgency
- Available study hours
- User preferences
For example:
[ Study\ Priority = Difficulty + Deadline\ Weight + Workload ]
The platform was designed to support future integrations with systems such as Google Calendar and Google Classroom to automate scheduling and deadline management.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was managing scope within a limited hackathon timeline. There were many features we wanted to implement, including advanced integrations, analytics, and additional AI functionality, but we had to focus on building a strong MVP first.
Another challenge was designing a scheduling system that feels realistic rather than robotic. Many timetable systems generate schedules that are technically efficient but impossible to maintain consistently. Balancing productivity with sustainability was an important part of the project.
We also faced challenges simplifying the user experience while still making the platform customizable and adaptive to different student lifestyles.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of building a platform that solves a real student problem instead of creating productivity features for the sake of complexity.
Some accomplishments we are especially proud of include:
- Creating an adaptive timetable generator
- Designing a clean and student-focused dashboard
- Developing a system that prioritizes realistic scheduling and burnout prevention
- Building customizable study planning around real student habits
- Successfully using prompt engineering workflows to accelerate development
- Designing the foundation for future Google Calendar and Google Classroom integrations
Most importantly, we are proud that Synora is built around how students actually study in real life.
What we learned
Through this project, we learned:
- The importance of solving real user problems
- How critical scope management is during hackathons
- How prompt engineering can speed up development workflows
- The value of personalization in productivity systems
- How to balance automation with usability
We also learned that the best productivity tools are not necessarily the most complicated ones, but the ones that fit naturally into people’s daily routines.
What's next for Synora
Future versions of Synora could include:
- Google Calendar integration
- Google Classroom synchronization
- Smarter AI-powered scheduling
- Burnout detection and wellness insights
- Advanced quiz generation
- Performance analytics
- Cross-platform mobile support
- Collaborative study groups
- Intelligent study recommendations based on progress and performance
Our long-term vision is to make Synora a complete adaptive academic companion that helps students study more consistently, realistically, and sustainably.
