Inspiration

50% of newly taught knowledge is forgotten by humans in an hour, 70% in a day, and 80% in a month. For the millions of students who have many tests throughout the year, this is a major issue. The lack of one-on-one engagement, along with insufficient and disorganised instructional tools emphasises this. Most students don't receive the one-on-one attention they need to clear up any confusion and comprehend the material. Consequently, the pupils' ability to develop a solid grasp of the concepts is compromised, casting doubt on their basic education.

What it does

SynConnect is a cutting-edge educational tool that encourages group projects among students. With the help of our platform, students may interact with one another and have text or voice conversations to improve their comprehension of a range of topics. Students may reinforce their comprehension by using the Feynman Technique to explain ideas to their classmates, have in-class discussions on difficult subjects, and pose questions in real-time.

How we built it

We have a website that was made using CSS, HTML, and JS. It provides users with all the information they need to know about SynConnect. The site is also 100% responsive for a huge range of devices, which means that the pages will be properly displayed regardless of how big or small your screen size is. This was achieved with the help of media queries and a webkit.

Finally, the app's main functionalities are the voice and text chat features for efficient and low-error communication, if audio errors occur, text chat can be used, and vice versa. Additionally, the core of the app was programmed using in-built Python libraries, such as sockets for networking and threading to allow both voice and text chats simultaneously. The UI was built using PyQT5, as the design can be manipulated easily using CSS. The integration of voice chat was done using pyaudio.

Solution

With the help of our software, students may collaborate productively and plan their revision. Students will speak over the phone with a user whose interests and ability level match their own. They can strengthen their knowledge by teaching someone a concept they have selected and are confident in, and another student can learn by actively posing questions and clearing up any uncertainties to improve their understanding. The Feynman Technique is the name given to this type of learning method. Richard Feynman observed that the "ultimate test of your knowledge is your capacity to convey it to someone else.” Everyone learns holistically in this dual exchange system as a result. This technique has several benefits, as it simultaneously improves learning and allows for more engaging and fun learning for the students while retaining a larger amount of information.

What's next for SynConnect

Our product's future depends on our strategy of selling in bulk to educational institutions, which will enable us to provide our product at a lower cost and foster more client loyalty. Along with this, we will embrace subscription models, and cash flow will be stabilised, allowing for more frequent as well as safer investments, strengthening our reputation in the EdTech field. This makes SynConnect a secure and dependable application that students throughout the world may use, strengthening security and user identification and enabling us to establish a connection between students and their educational institutions.
