Inspiration
I have seen and heard countless stories from my friends, who feel exhausted, bored, or even depressed being locked up in their houses with not much to do due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of my peers became depressed and sad due to the mono-routine they were following. So to lift their spirits and bring something new to the plate, I came up with Synergy; an all-in-one website that provides some fun and interesting articles/activities one can read/do.
What it does
Synergy can improve one's physical, mental and social well-being through simple daily activities. It provides Indoor activities (diary-writing, yoga, listening to music), Outdoor activities (jogging, cycling, reading), and food donation/tree plantation programs. In addition to this, SYNERGY has its own community where people can express their thoughts and feelings freely and their opinions are respected (forum page)! It also achieves the Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being
How I built it
1- VS Code and Replit (Development) 2- Canva (artistic appeals/design) 3- Notepad (storing Information)
Challenges I ran into
1- Time zone difference 2- Medium experience with front-end 3- Designing the website for a positive vibe
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
1- Developed skills in frontend and debugging. 2- Creating SYNERGY to improve the health/well-being of everyone! 3- Building a forum/community, where people can share stories. 4- Improving skills in website and graphic designing.
What I learned
While building Synergy, I learned how to code in HTML and CSS efficiently. I also improved my designing skills through CSS and Canva designs! While researching about this broad topic (health and well-being), I became aware of people who have experienced a decrease in their health and how one simple hobby saved their life! In addition to this, I became more comfortable to code in VS Code and Replit.
What's next for Synergy
Since my goal is to make it an international project with a global impact, I will be connecting Synergy with some of my past projects as well as some NGOs or organizations with similar goals.
In technical terms, I will also be building a convenient and portable app with the same features including a game that I will be starting to code (probably in Python).
