Synergy Legal Assistant: Hackathon Journey Inspiration Our team was inspired by the significant barriers many Kenyans face when trying to access legal information. We saw how complex legal language and expensive consultation fees prevent ordinary citizens from understanding their constitutional rights and legal options. What it does Synergy Legal Assistant is an AI-powered mobile application that provides instant, accurate answers about Kenyan constitutional law. Users can ask questions in plain language and receive clear, understandable responses with proper legal citations - all for free. How we built it We used the Llama 3.3 AI model, specifically trained on the Constitution of Kenya and relevant legal documents. The backend runs on Groq hardware for high-speed processing, while our frontend team built intuitive mobile interfaces for both iOS and Android platforms. We also discovered how powerful AI can be in democratizing access to knowledge that was previously only available to those who could afford legal consultation. What's next for Synergy Legal Assistant Our roadmap includes expanding to cover more areas of Kenyan law, adding support for additional local languages, and forming partnerships with legal aid organizations and educational institutions across East Africa.
