Inspiration

Have you ever joined a hackathon, only to spend the first 24 hours just trying to find a team and agree on an idea? It completely kills your momentum. We realized that while hackathons are built for rapid execution, the team-formation process is stuck in chaotic Discord channels and messy spreadsheets. We were inspired to build a platform that eliminates the friction of networking and gets developers straight to what they do best: building.

What it does

SyncSpace is an intelligent developer matching engine and project command center. It takes you from a solo developer to a highly aligned, executing team in minutes.

  • The Match Engine: Developers upload their "Developer DNA" (skills, experience, and roles). SyncSpace analyzes this and instantly connects them with projects that need their exact tech stack.
  • The AI Developer DNA Extractor: Users can literally copy and paste their raw resume or LinkedIn profile into SyncSpace, and our Google Gemini AI engine automatically structures it into a perfect profile.
  • The Project Hub: Once matched, teams enter a dedicated Workspace. Instead of fighting over Google Docs, teams drop ideas into a live collaborative Brainstorming board.
  • AI Roadmap Synthesis: With one click, the project admin can use our Gemini AI Synthesis Engine to analyze all the unstructured team ideas and automatically generate a professional, Markdown-formatted, day-by-day execution roadmap.

How we built it

We built SyncSpace as a modern Single Page Application (SPA) utilizing a high-performance stack:

  • Frontend: React.js powered by Vite for lightning-fast HMR and bundling. We used Framer Motion for sleek micro-animations and Lucide React for crisp iconography.
  • Backend & Database: Google Firebase handles our Authentication, secure hosting, and Firestore NoSQL database. We utilized Firestore's real-time onSnapshot listeners to ensure that live team chats and brainstorming ideas sync across all users' screens instantly.
  • AI Integration: We securely integrated the Google Gemini 2.5 Flash API to power both the Resume Extractor and the Project Roadmap Synthesizer, relying on its incredible speed and massive context window to process unstructured data into rigid JSON and Markdown formats.

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest hurdles was designing the real-time syncing logic for the Project Hub. Ensuring that multiple users could chat and post brainstorming ideas simultaneously without race conditions required careful architecture of our Firestore listeners. Furthermore, coercing a Large Language Model (Gemini) to consistently return perfectly formatted JSON for our Resume Extractor—without conversational filler text—required significant prompt engineering and raw text sanitization.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are incredibly proud of the AI Roadmap Synthesis feature. Watching a chaotic board of random team ideas instantly transform into a structured, executable plan feels like magic. We are also proud of the premium, glassmorphism UI/UX. We wanted SyncSpace to feel like a state-of-the-art tool, not just an MVP. The dynamic deadlines that calculate relative time (e.g., "DUE TMW" vs "IN 3D") and the sleek dark mode aesthetic make the platform genuinely enjoyable to use.

What we learned

We learned a tremendous amount about real-time database architecture and AI integration. Specifically, we learned how to architect prompt structures that force LLMs to act as strict data parsers (for resumes) and structured Product Managers (for roadmaps). We also deepened our understanding of React state management when dealing with multiple asynchronous database listeners.

What's next for SyncSpace

We want to expand SyncSpace beyond hackathons! The next step is introducing GitHub Integration, allowing the AI to actually read the team's live repository and automatically check off roadmap tasks as pull requests get merged. We also plan to introduce a "Skill Endorsement" system, where team members can upvote each other's Developer DNA after a hackathon finishes, building a verifiable portfolio of teamwork.
