Inspiration
Trying something new.
What it does
It will try to pick the events you are most likely to be interested in based on the products you viewed most recently.
How I built it
I used Python for the recommendations service. SQL (MSSQL & Vertica) to find the metadata related to each SKU. Uploaded a portion of the SKU metadata to Development Redis using PHP.
Challenges I ran into
Development Redis keeps on losing the data. I will need to time the demo pretty well.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I created the prototype overnight after a full day.
What I learned
Some of the metadata should not count as much as other attributes because they can skew the results really quickly towards something that doesn't make sense.
What's next for Synchronous Event Sort
Stabilizing and running a small scale test. Working with other teams to help identify the right metadata and hash out what coefficients to use in the scoring function.
