Inspiration

The inspiration for Synchro came from seeing how many brilliant ideas and early-stage startups struggle to find the right collaborators. I noticed passionate individuals often don’t have an easy way to connect with like-minded developers, designers, marketers, or investors — especially outside traditional networks. I wanted to build a place where anyone with a vision can find the right people to bring it to life.

What it does

Synchro is a collaborative platform that connects individuals and teams working on passion projects or startups. It matches people based on skills, industries, and interests. It also provides a forum for discussion, a crowdfunding tool for projects, and ways to attract sponsors or investors — all in one place.

How we built it

We built Synchro using:

Frontend: React for a responsive web app

Backend: Python Fast API with a REST API, plus MongoDB for structured data

Auth & Security: Auth0 for secure user authentication and JWT-based sessions

Matching: A custom algorithm that filters users and projects by tags and interests

Infrastructure: Deployed on AWS with Docker containers and CI/CD pipelines. The UI is on the netlify

We designed it to be scalable and flexible enough to add new categories and monetization features later.

Challenges we ran into

Designing a matching algorithm that actually feels relevant and useful to diverse users.

Encouraging users to fill out enough profile data for good matches.

Balancing accessibility for non-technical projects while keeping the platform appealing for tech teams.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Created a working MVP that already connects people from different industries.

Designed an intuitive UI that’s simple for both individuals and startups.

Successfully implemented the first version of the matching system.

Got early positive feedback from test users who found collaborators quickly.

What we learned

Community-building is just as important as the tech — we need to foster trust and engagement.

Flexible categories and clear onboarding are key for supporting diverse projects.

Even small profile details can dramatically improve match quality.

Early testing with real users is invaluable for refining features.

Launch the crowdfunding and sponsor discovery features.

Expand our matching algorithm with AI-based recommendations.

Develop a mobile app for easier access on the go.
