Inspiration
Frustrated by the sometimes seemingly random bugs that pop out of nowhere, we built the game to alleviate the pain by making it a little more fun. (This backfired almost immediately, random bugs where everywhere)
What it does
A RogueLike RPG where you play as a computer trying to fight 3 unique bug spawns within a time limit.
How we built it
We used Unity2D and C#.
Challenges we ran into
We wanted to give a sense of chaos in our dungeon generation. Hence, we wanted to try using procedural generation to make unique dungeon layouts in each iteration. This proved to be difficult, and we had to wrestle many many bugs to achieve a working result.
We were also new to unity and didnt know how most of its features worked ;;
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We did manage to get it to work to some extent in just 24 hours! Being able to get procedural generation and placement of random enemies to work was really satisfying.
What we learned
The basics of Unity and C#
What's next for SynatxError
We definitely want to continue expanding on it-it was a really rewarding journey! This means more enemy types, adding sounds, and improving user experience by increasing user feedback. This includes clearer animations and more distinct movements for different states.
