Hackathon Challenge
The challenge of efficiently onboarding new employees and ensuring knowledge transfer from experienced team members.
What it does
Synapze is a web app that streamlines the onboarding process by allowing experienced employees to contribute documentation, which is then organized and presented to new hires as summaries and interactive flashcards and quizzes. This enables new team members to learn critical information quickly and effectively.
How we built it
We built Synapze using Astro, a modern web development framework that allows us to create fast, content-focused websites. We used TypeScript for type safety and better developer experience. The backend is powered by Cloudflare Workers, providing a serverless architecture for seamless scalability. We store and retrieve the documentation data using Cloudflare D1, a SQL database built for serverless apps.
Challenges we ran into
Parsing JSON responses from LLM proved to be difficult so we used LLMs. We also had to work on a limited tokens from Gemini to test our project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we made the initial parser work to feed Gemini the raw text data acquired from a text based file, and we are proud that we were able to make the Gemini response work for our Summary, Quiz, and Flashcards.
