Inspiration
We were inspired by the fact that healthcare is one of the most important industries but there aren't reliable and trustable alternatives. A visit to the doctors office can be expensive and time-taking so we decided to create another way. Note: professional medical advice will always be superior to this. Our program is not trying to replace doctors.
What it does
Our program takes patient information as an input and outputs some possible reasons for the symptoms. Our program asks for patient name, age, gender, history, diet and symptoms. The program uses this to release the most accurate information possible. Our program can also store and retrieve patient data.
How we built it
We built this using Python on Replit. We took some information and some guidance from AI although our code is original. We also imbedded Google Gemini Generative AI into our program, which is the process that analyzes the information and releases an accurate diagnosis.
Challenges we ran into
Initially, we kept running into many errors with a database. We were stuck on this for a very long time and it was a very time-taking process. Another challenge we ran into was properly imbedding the AI into our project. Getting a proper response from the google AI was challenging but we eventually got past it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we successfully created software that can be used in real life industries. We are also proud that this program can save lives if properly implemented. We are also proud that we were able to combine the many resources we had available into one amazing project.
What we learned
We learned more depth about the Python Language along with more advanced integrating features. We also learned how to use AI successfully in our project. We also learned how to create a friendly UI.
What's next for PatientNav
We hope that we can take our project to the next level. We also hope that in the future, we can use more accurate medical devices and indexes to diagnose diseases in elderly patients.
