Inspiration

The vastness of the universe and the many feelings it evokes

What it does

Sonifies different cosmic data - translates it into audio:
.csv -> midi -> .wav

How we built it

Together! (Using python to process the data and React with Next.js for the website)

Challenges we ran into

Lack of suitable datasets (especially the farther you go from Earth), deprecated python libraries, as well as our prior unfamiliarity with the field of sonification

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Combining our team members' skills and interests (Programming, Physics, Music and Data Analysis) to create an exciting and multifaceted project

What we learned

How to play to each other's strengths, how to turn thousands of numbers into sounds, and lots of space facts

What's next for Symphony of the universe

The next step will be implementation of a full python API and an interface for people to translate any datasets (within reason) into audio
