Inspiration
The inspiration for this device came from a large number of physicians we shadowed in nephrology clinics.
What it does
SYMon continuously monitors for interstitial ion and fluid levels for predicting emergent episodes for dialysis patients. It connects to a Bluetooth app for better response and treatment.
How we built it
We modeled the device parts in CAD and the app in Figma.
Challenges we ran into
The major challenges of the device related to the technical specifications of the ion-selective electrodes, the device physical design, the app coding, as well as the biomedical constraints of the patients.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of completely designing a ready-to-go app interface and designed product for clinical trials.
What we learned
We learned the most from our biomedical and biological research, as well as from regulatory mentors and financial analysis.
What's next for SYMon
The next step for SYMon is more in-depth R&D and beginning clinical trials.
