Inspiration
As famously put by Marc Andreessen over 10 years ago, "software is eating the world", and many individuals and organizations are still struggling to adapt to the pace of changing technology. Adding fuel to this fire is a life post-pandemic, which has accelerated digital adoption for almost all businesses to survive and remain viable enterprises. Simultaneously, the ever changing work place landscape asks for new models for the future of work to address the key skill shortages of specialized technical resources and the desire for flexible, global, equitable and sustainable work has made it extremely difficult for organizations and individuals to navigate.
What it does
Symbiosis curates the infrastructure and people required by organizations at any level of maturity in a reliable, transparent and accountable fashion through the creation of a workplace community that secures the future.
Task Disaggregation
Business requirements are disaggregated into "units of work", or tasks, which are then optimally matched with specialized technical resources most suited to deliver results. Hire a team instead of an individual: operative work/projects are divided into "units of work" so each worker belongs to a team and is equitably compensation for delivery and quality.
Fair Employment
Fair payments are released as work is reviewed and accepted instead of end of project lifecycles, democratizing workforce compensation and workloads. Each worker can determine their level of engagement, and their level of compensation to achieve a sustainable salary.
Accountability
Completed "units of work" are tracked on Hashgraph using Hedera, creating a profile of past achievements that can be relied upon for future allocation of work and equitable compensation.
Sustainable workplace community
Benefit from more than just your work: all workers are also investors. Belonging to the Symbiosis community means fair employment and an opportunity to benefit from a growing community that includes investment opportunities through investing in organisations and projects, sharing of risk and equity, options of different types of membership and commitment.
How we build it
- Symbiosis NFT with utilities depending on type of membership.
- Ledger to manage "units of work" and payments
- Potential coins to spend in the community
Challenges we ran into
-Lack of time to create more code, but we grew as a team throughout the hackathon. -Being a multidisciplinary team is a value but also a challenge -Availability. Run our daily work looking for time to invest in our project. We test our proposal with our team. Startups require the flexibility that Symbiosis offers.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
-We test the model that we are proposing with our team in this project. We achieve the stage to expose the key questions, strengths, and weaknesses. The team is more clear regarding the next natural steps.
- Recipient of SINGA community award for 2021 (Incubator based in Geneva and Zurich)
- Forged partnerships with various freelancer, code training and talent acquisition institutions and communities
What we learned
- Not everyone on the team understood the technology well enough to see what can be done with it. Now we found even more use-cases thanks to Hedera and thanks to be part of this experience.
- We clarified and answered many open question around our business concept and reached a state where we beliefe it is worthwhile to continue, develop and market our solution.
What's next for Symbiosis
We applied for the Hashgraph Innovation Program for funding to build and launch the business. -We will onboard producers and customers to run pilots -We will work on creating evidence with concrete use-cases to show the value of our proposal -We will continue with our market validation
