Inspiration
- My ongoing struggle to locate the ideal video and resource is compounded by the dissatisfaction I experience when the content my teacher posts fails to meet my expectations. This frustration has inspired me to seek a solution like SyllabusSync.
What it does
- SyllabusSync is more than just a connection platform for UNCG staff and students; it's a dynamic space for sharing knowledge and supporting each other's learning journeys. This innovative app provides precise explanations for topics you may be struggling with in your classes. For instance, if you're having difficulty with Mr. Sukinin's Calc 2.5 section, SyllabusSync offers curated videos to aid your understanding. However, access to these resources isn't automatic; you must contribute your own expertise to the community.
Here's how it works: to unlock videos, you'll need to share your knowledge by creating a brief, two-minute video on a topic you excel in from one of your other classes. Each uploaded video earns you four points, and you need at least three points to access the materials. This encourages ongoing participation and ensures a vibrant exchange of insights.
Additionally, SyllabusSync features forums and private chats where you can seek answers to questions that may still linger after watching the videos. It's a collaborative learning environment designed to empower students and foster a culture of shared understanding. With SyllabusSync, academic support is just a click away.
How we built it
I used Figma to design my webiste and used replit to code: used CSS, Figma, Html, JSS
Challenges we ran into
I encountered significant challenges while coding this website due to the overwhelming number of files to incorporate within a tight timeframe. Additionally, sourcing a suitable website design proved to be equally arduous, as many of the quality options came with prohibitive price tags.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I take pride in conceiving my idea and navigating the intricacies of its implementation. As a first-time participant in a hackathon, I felt a surge of stress initially, unsure of my ability to persevere. There were moments when I feared I might succumb to the pressure and abandon the project midway. However, I pressed on and successfully completed the hackathon, delivering a functional website. This experience reaffirmed my determination and resilience.
