Inspiration

The inspiration for Syllabus RPG came from many students' struggles in keeping track of deadlines and tasks. Gamification has proven to boost motivation, so we decided to blend it with academic task management to create a tool that helps students stay organized and makes the process more engaging and fun.

What it does

Syllabus RPG extracts key information from a student’s syllabus, such as deadlines and assignments, and turns them into tasks. Students can complete these tasks to earn points, level up, and unlock achievements. The app provides a personalized experience by offering progress tracking, academic insights, and goal-setting features.

How we built it

We used Python for backend development to automate task extraction and syncing with the syllabus. The frontend was built with JavaScript to create a dynamic and user-friendly interface. We also integrated GitHub for version control and collaboration.

Challenges we ran into

Ensuring a smooth user interface for task tracking and progress visualization. Balancing the complexity of gamification with usability.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Completion: Delivered a fully functional version of Syllabus RPG within the hackathon’s timeframe. Gamified System: Implemented a system where students can earn points and level up. User Experience: Developed an intuitive interface that allows students to easily track tasks and progress.

What we learned

We learned how gamification can be effectively applied to academic tools and the importance of user-centered design. We also gained experience in rapid prototyping and team collaboration in a fast-paced environment.

What's next for Syllabus RPG
