Inspiration

1/3 of all food is wasted.

Supermarkets and households dump expired food on a daily basis.

What it does

We developed a platform that incentivizes customers to save food as much as possible, by:

• Communicating food supply information accurately with the customer, quantifying how much food a supermarket is likely to waste
• Incentivizing users with blockchain tokens (Eater Token) for using food from the supermarket that would otherwise go wasted
• Building a smart refrigerator program that automatically reads and manages your purchased food, to make sure it is used by the expiry date
• Making it possible to exchange Eater Token for Crypto Tree NFTs that would correspond to actual trees planted somewhere traceable

How we built it

Using Solidity for the contracts, Vue for the front-end, Flask for the fridge back-end.

What's next for SYFSOF

• Connect with more supermarkets and suppliers to supermarkets to communicate and balance the demand and supply between them, to prevent over- or under-supply
• As we scale, use ML statistical models to accurately predict the food waste data based on data already on the chain
