The primary inspiration for SWYF stemmed from the widespread frustrations in the e-commerce fashion landscape. Customers often face disappointment when online purchases don’t fit or look as expected, leading to time-consuming returns and dissatisfaction due to poor fit, unflattering colors, and lack of personalization. A significant portion of returns—around 25%—are due to such issues.
For small businesses and retailers, this results in substantial financial losses and logistical burdens, with each return costing an average of $45. Additionally, about 70% of shopping carts are abandoned before checkout, often due to uncertainty or lack of confidence in product fit.
Recognizing these challenges, the team was inspired to develop an AI-driven virtual fitting room that delivers personalized fit and style recommendations. This innovation aims to reduce returns, increase customer satisfaction, improve conversion rates, and promote sustainability in online fashion retail.
