"Swoop It Up On Swooply!"

NFT Classified Listings - Website & App (eventually)

I personally use Classified Ad websites a lot, and I found some major issues with the platforms that Swooply aims to fix in the future. I have been thinking about this concept for some time but when I first saw the Hackathon my initial thought was to implement NFTs into Classified Listings.

For now, we created a Functional NFT website that works with the full range of use cases for NFTs, but we only had enough time to develop the basics of Swooply and not dive deeply into the UI/UX and other capabilities that may benefit Swooply in the future. We will refine the project in Laravel Framework and add more blockchain XRPL tools like escrow and smart contracts in the future.

Problems That Swooply Solves & Unique Swooply Features:

Buyers say they want the item but never show up- On traditional Classified Ads, you will be told someone is coming to pick up an item and they never show up. This is frustrating to Sellers and makes selling items a hassle. Swooply allows for a Reservation of an item, eventually through Escrow with a down payment. Then the Buyer will have a permitted period of time to show up and review the item before purchasing the Functional NFT connected to the item. If the Buyer shows up and passes on the item they get a full refund. If the Buyer does not show up in the agreed timeframe the Seller can retain a portion of the down payment for his time wasted.

History of the products you purchase- Swooply will allow Buyers of items to add the history of the item since they purchased it into the Blockchain inside the NFT meta data that will point to the oracle Swooply. For example, say since the time you purchased the item you repaired something on it, or something broke on it. These history facts can be stored inside the blockchain so buyers know the full scope or history of the product they are purchasing.

Quickly Resell Items- Swooply will allow Buyers of the functional NFTs/items to resell the item and change the price as fit. All history of previous purchases will be stored in blockchain so everyone is on the same page. Swooply will allow for Buyers to to collect NFTs of all the items they purchased. It will be a fun game for Buyers on Swooply to collect NFTs and items in the real world simultaneously.

Bidding Options- With Swooply sellers have the option to have their products auctioned for bidding much like Ebay but for classified listings on a local scale which I have not seen done yet.

Touchless Interaction- Swooply allows for a touch free interaction between buyers and sellers. In post Covid days there are plenty of people interested in more ways to connect without touching each other.

GPS Integration- (in future) Swooply will incorporate GPS so that you know when the Buyer is on the way and how far away they are from your pickup destination. This would be similar to Lyft.

Impact of NFT Cover Photos/Art- Because the cover photo of every item being sold turns into an NFT we feel it may drastically change the way people think about cover photos for Ads. They may make them far more artistic. This will eventually provide 2 values for the price of 1. The NFT itself can be transferred into other wallets and resold if it is artistic enough to be able to resell! It may end up that people are buying items just for the NFT rather than vice versa.

What it does

Swooply is a Functional NFT & Smart Contract Classified Listing Ads website in blockchain through XRPL. The cost of minting NFTs on XRPL is very minimal (drops) but also a small cost would allow for Sellers to be serious about what they are selling and Buyers to have the unique opportunity to own a Functional NFT that is connected to a real world item.

We still need to decide what Categories would be best for this use case. As some items may not make sense for this type of Classified Ads listings. But real world art like: paintings, statues, and other artistic items may make more sense to have both a NFT version and a real world item for sale. For example, there are original paintings and then there are lithographs of the originals already created. This is a similar concept. We are still experimenting with the best categories to add into the platform.

How we built it

HTML, CSS, JS for the front end PHP for the back end language MySQL for the database Wordpress CMS

Challenges we ran into

Actually, the XRPL documentation is pretty straight forward. If we had more time we could have created a more solid UI/UX. But we did not see the Hackathon until March 1st. The site is only at the beginning stages of where we believe we can take it. We moved very quickly and worked around the clock to complete Swooply before the deadline.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to successfully create Functional NFT Listings that incorporated a full range of use cases, as seen in the video. We successfully integrated with the Xumm wallet.

What we learned

We are slowly learning to master XRPL! And soon with this project and many others we create we hope to immensely benefit the XRPL ecosystem!

What's next for Swooply.io

We are going to move Swooply into Laravel Framework and build deeper integration with a better UI/UX, as stated in the initial question above. We are going to incorporate multiple photos for Sellers rather than just 1, and the main cover photo will be the only NFT. The other photos will just be regular photos on the site. We are also considering Video NFTs for cover photos which would also be a unique addition!

Thank You

We want to say Thank You to all the participants in this Hackathon and RippleX for hosting the event!
