Inspiration
Lockdown is hard for everybody and the uncertainty makes it extremely difficult to plan things in advance and stay motivated. The pandemic has also put a strain on our ability to communicate with one another and make friends. This inspires us to create SwoleMate, a mobile application intended to connect users with a possible “swolemate” based on common interests. The app is intended to restore the body, restore workout ethics, restore our ability to make friends, and restore a piece of our lives before the pandemic.
What it does
It matches you with other people who share the same workout activities and have workout buddies. It uses an algorithm that matches you based on your location, activities, age, and preferred gender. It generates a list of potential matches, and you can pick out the ones you want. After that, their contact information is shared with you. You can pick it up from there!
How we built it
We did the front-end design on Figma. We programmed the back-end using Dart.
Challenges we ran into
None of us have used any of the technologies we used in this project since we wanted to learn something new. Although designing the front-end using Figma was a success, we couldn't wholly integrate the front-end to the back-end.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We learned utterly new tools, which was also the first time we worked together.
What we learned
We learned how to use Flutter, Dart, and Figma. We also learned about the creativity and design process of a mobile app.
What's next for SwoleMate
We plan to continue implementing the app so that it is complete.
