Swire - Your future one swipe away

Swire a new way of applying for jobs. Employers post their company's available positions on our app and potential applicants have the option of applying, saving a job offer for later, or declining.

Inspiration

tinder like user friendly platform that ease the process of looking and applying for jobs, our UI helps to avoid overwhelming applicant and showing them potential positions one by one.

What it does

Organizes job postings and shows them to users in a single card format, this way it is phone app friendly but also avoids accidentally skipping over important listings.

How we built it

We used mongoDB Atlas to store our database, we used python to pull data and flask to sort for html, javascript, and CSS to use and display effectively.

Challenges we ran into

We were 4 beginner hackers with no prior back-end or front-end experience, we divided our work and researched independently and combined at the end with the help of mentors. We ran into compatibility problems, getting relevant companies' ATI's, and finding relevant sources to help.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Getting a full backend-to-frontend connection and displaying appropriate information and working together as a team. We came in with no knowledge and little by little built our code to work together

What we learned

We learned that just diving in and making mistakes is the best way to learn. We also learned Backend development, Python, mongoDB Atlas software, html compatibility with flask.

What's next for Swire

Optimize for employers who don't want to see applicants one-by-one, keep a strong database for users to trust, effective job filtering, LinkedIn API integration, user authentication and phone compatibility for video chat.
