All of our team members are regular customers of eBay, Amazon and other many shopping sites. Each time when we try to purchase an item and using the search bar, we are being overwhelmed. When we came to to this Hackathon our goal was to make the shopping experience in our smartphones much easier and intuitive to the user, therefore the user can swipe the item to the right if he interested at it, or swipe to the left in order to dismiss it. Today, most people don't like to wait. They want their item now. In order to make it easy and fast, we based our app on location.
How it works
The app is a Search engine second-hand and first hand products for sale that is based price.
The user interface is very similar to tinder it means that when you see an item that you like and interested, you can swipe it to the right, or - to swipe it to the left if you don't like.
In the app you can search for items near by you, or items on Amazon, eBay, etc... when you finish swiping, you can see a summery of your "liked" items that you have swiped before to the right - and then compare between them and to buy
Challenges I ran into
At the process we faced a lot of challenges: at the beginning we we used to think that the idea is too hard and will never become true.
Also at the actual programming we had difficulties in getting our location, config all our computers and more.
After that we had problems at designing the app.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Our idea, our location based service, our peer to peer idea and perform, our animation, our data base and much more.
What I learned
we ran into many challenges in the hackathon. At first i didn't think we could make an app like this, but at the end after we faced all these challenges, i know that we have no limits. I learned a lot of programming because of this compilation. Important of all - we leaned to keep on trying until we achieve our goal.
What's next for Swipey
Much more purache categories. Much more items. More specific results. Cooperation with shops, brands, etc... which will pay us for putting their items on the top of our search results. In the farther future - even items for rent.
