SwipeX – AI-Powered Job Discovery Platform

Inspiration

Finding the right job is often time-consuming and overwhelming. Traditional job portals require users to browse hundreds of listings manually. We wanted to simplify this process by combining a swipe-based experience with Artificial Intelligence to make job discovery faster, smarter, and more engaging.

What it does

SwipeX is an AI-powered job discovery and career assistance platform. Users can create an account, upload their resume, receive an ATS score, explore jobs through a swipe interface, save or apply for jobs, and get AI-driven recommendations based on their skills and experience. The platform also includes recruiter and admin dashboards for managing jobs and users.

How we built it

The frontend was developed using React.js, Vite, and Tailwind CSS to create a modern and responsive interface. The backend was built with FastAPI and Python, using SQLAlchemy for database operations and JWT for secure authentication. AI modules were developed for resume parsing, ATS scoring, skill analysis, and personalized job recommendations. The project was managed with GitHub, deployed on Vercel (Frontend) and Render (Backend), and designed with Docker support for future scalability.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was integrating the frontend with the backend while ensuring secure authentication and smooth API communication. We also resolved deployment issues related to dependencies, environment variables, Swagger UI configuration, and cloud deployment. Optimizing resume analysis and AI recommendation logic was another important learning experience.

What we learned

This project strengthened our understanding of full-stack web development, REST APIs, authentication, cloud deployment, Git workflows, AI integration, and modern software engineering practices. It also improved our problem-solving skills while deploying and debugging real-world applications.

What's next for SwipeX

Future improvements include integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) for career guidance, real-time job aggregation from multiple sources, interview preparation assistance, recruiter analytics, notification services, multilingual support, and mobile application development.
