Horizon Worlds - World Name : Swipetris (WorldID: 10164074984238619)
Inspiration
I saw there was a prize for landscape and swipe mechanics so I made this
What it does
you play a tetris lis match 3 game
How we built it
i remixed the match3 example and asked AI to make the code for me.
Challenges we ran into
it didn't work at first.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
that i did it in a very short time
What we learned
that the platform isn't ready for mobile game development and it's a lot of hacking.
What's next for Swipetris
if i don't win a prize there won't be anything next
Nah. that sounds bad. ok. let's let AI rephrase this:
Swipetris - Meta Horizon Mobile Innovation Submission
Inspiration
Swipetris was inspired by the competition's focus on mobile-first interactions and touch controls. I recognized an opportunity to combine classic puzzle mechanics—Tetris and Match-3—into a fresh mobile experience optimized for portrait mode and swipe gestures.
What it does
Swipetris delivers an engaging puzzle game where players match colored spheres using intuitive swipe controls. The game leverages Meta Horizon's mobile capabilities to create quick, satisfying gameplay sessions perfect for on-the-go entertainment.
How we built it
Built using Meta Horizon Worlds' tools, I started with the Match-3 example as a foundation and enhanced it with custom scripting to implement swipe-based controls and Tetris-inspired falling mechanics. The development focused on optimizing touch interactions for mobile screens.
Challenges we ran into
Adapting traditional gaming mechanics to Meta Horizon's mobile framework required creative problem-solving and iterative testing to ensure smooth performance and intuitive controls.
Accomplishments
Successfully created a functional mobile game with responsive swipe mechanics in a compressed timeframe, demonstrating rapid prototyping capabilities.
What we learned
Valuable insights into mobile game development on Meta Horizon, including optimization techniques and the platform's unique capabilities for touch-based interactions.
What's next
Plans include refining visual feedback, adding progression systems with unlockables, and expanding social features to enhance player engagement and replayability.
