Inspiration

We love pets! And we can relate to the guilt that occurs when leaving pets at home, especially when they're waiting at the door for their owner to come back. That's why we thought it would be a fun idea to give pets a similar outlet as Tinder to help them find a friend to spend time with and cope with their separation anxiety. Also inspired by film: The Secret Life Of Pets.

What it does

Swipet is the new matching app for your pets to meet new companions.

  • Whether your pet is a dog, cat, or goat, they can find a pal to hang out with while you're away
  • Tell others what your pet may have in common to find a potential match
  • Your likes and matches are saved to your profile

How we built it

Frontend - Reactjs

Backend - Nodejs, Express.js

Database - MYSQL, cloudinary

Hosting - Netlify, Heroku

Challenges we ran into

We had problems with certain frontend libraries not working as intended, as well as with hosting the server and database on the cloud. We were, however, able to resolve majority of these concerns.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're all quite proud of how much we got done in such a short period of time. The difficulty level was moderate, but we were still able to complete most of the features.

What's next for Swipet

Due to time constraints, we weren't able to implement all of the features we had planned but these would be in line for an update:

  • Chat feature for profiles that you match with
  • Rewind to undo last like or reject
  • Categorized interests for better matching
