Inspiration

I am a student, and whenever I used to apply for internships or jobs, I always felt the process was very repetitive and frustrating. Every platform asked for the same details, same resume upload, and endless forms again and again.

At the same time, whenever I used swipe apps like Tinder, one thing always came to my mind:

“Why can’t job applications work like this too?”

That simple thought became the idea behind SwipeHire AI.

The idea was simple: instead of searching endlessly and filling long forms, users can just swipe through jobs. Swipe right to apply, swipe left to skip. Fast, simple, and easy to use.

I also want to make this useful for recruiters in the future so both recruiters and applicants can connect more easily on one platform.

Honestly, I am still a beginner in coding. I don’t know very advanced development yet, but I always have ideas because I enjoy observing apps and user experiences. I keep thinking about how products can be made simpler and more engaging.

The Medo Hackathon helped me a lot while building this project. Using Medo, I was able to turn my ideas into an actual working product through prompts. I described features and UI ideas in simple words, and Medo helped generate layouts, components, and workflows very quickly.

Because of that, I saved a lot of time and focused more on creativity, features, product thinking, and user experience instead of struggling with setup and boilerplate code.

This project made me realize that even beginners can build meaningful products if they have a strong idea and the right tools.

What it does

SwipeHire AI is a Tinder-style AI-powered job platform where users can:

  • upload resumes
  • get personalized job recommendations
  • swipe through jobs
  • auto-apply instantly
  • practice AI mock interviews
  • improve resumes using AI
  • get career guidance from AI

I also added fun features like:

  • Resume Roast
  • AI Interview Practice
  • Personalized AI Career Coach
  • Swipe streaks and gamification

The goal was to make job hunting feel less stressful and more interactive.

How we built it

Frontend

  • Next.js
  • React
  • Tailwind CSS
  • Framer Motion

Backend

  • Node.js
  • Express.js

Database

  • MongoDB

AI Features

  • OpenAI API
  • Resume parsing
  • AI job matching
  • AI interview generation

A major focus was creating a smooth UI with animations and mobile-friendly interactions so the platform feels modern and startup-like.

Challenges we faced

One challenge was balancing multiple AI features while still keeping the app simple and smooth.

Another challenge was creating realistic fake jobs and recruiter data so the demo could feel like a real platform.

Since I am still learning development, connecting different parts of the project together was also challenging, but it became a great learning experience.

What we learned

This project helped me learn more about:

  • AI integration
  • frontend architecture
  • UI/UX design
  • animations
  • product thinking

Most importantly, I learned that solving a real problem in a simple and enjoyable way can create something people genuinely want to use.

Future Plans

In the future, I want to:

  • add real job APIs
  • support LinkedIn Easy Apply
  • build recruiter dashboards
  • improve AI matching
  • add browser extensions
  • launch real-time application tracking

My long-term goal is to turn SwipeHire AI into a real startup and make it a smart bridge between recruiters and job seekers.
