Inspiration

We got our inspiration from imagining all the fun things that we could do around the world while we were trapped in our houses due to Covid-19.

What it does

Our website creates an easy way to find fun and interesting things to do around the world without people who share the same interests as you.

How we built it

We built our website using Flask for the backend, and html5, css3, and javascript for the frontend.

Challenges we ran into

The challenges we had involved having to find a way to find places, and display them in a readable and intuitive way. We also had trouble communicating between the frontend and backend.

Accomplishments that we are proud of

We are proud of being able to nearly complete what we initially thought was an unreachable task in this timeframe. We are proud that the website ended up looking nice and easy to understand, while also allowing for our backend to be compatible.

What we learned

We learned how to use flask, the google places API, and how to establish a good connection between the backend and the frontend.

What's next for Swipe Tourism

We will implement an easy way to find people who share your same preferences of where you want to go. This will help connect people around the world to meet in a place both want to visit. We also plan on seeing what languages each user is comfortable using to allow for more compatible friends to meet with.
