Swim and Survive

Inspiration

We were interested in the effects of climate change on sea turtles.

What it does

Out project is a visual story about a female sea turtle named Sashimi who is growing up. It starts with Sashimi breaking out of an egg and ends with her own eggs hatching. Users can click through 5 chapters of Sashimi's life using 'Previous' and 'Next' buttons and learn about climate change and sustainability.

How we built it

We first brainstormed the story and storyboarded the images. The drawings were made in GIMP with a laptop trackpad and mouse. We used repl.it to code our website with CSS and HTML.

Challenges we ran into

We struggled with image orientation and alignment of text.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were proud of making our project in such a short period of time. We also were proud that all our drawings were made without a tablet.

What we learned

We learned about teamwork, new programs, climate change, sustainability, and all about sea turtles.

What's next for Swim and Survive

In the future, we can improve the UX/UI and include interactive choices in our story.
