Problem:
With the CFP game being held in Indianapolis this year, the city will be extremely busy during that time, and busy cities bring about some frustrating problems. Visitors might have a hard time trying to find good places to eat in town that aren’t super busy, and local residents might become frustrated that all the “out of towners” have come flooding in and making already busy hotspots even busier.
Solution:
Our solution is a mobile app called SwiftLine that lets users know ahead of time how busy restaurants in the city are. Users self-report wait times at restaurants, and the app encourages this by having a feature that lets users pick which team they are rooting for in the CFP when they report how long they waited for a table.
Market Size:
There are around 700,000 potential customers, with a TAM of $693,000 and a SAM of around $300,000.
Competition:
While some restaurants use apps like Waitlist Me and NoWait, those apps are geared towards the restaurant owners, while SwiftLine is geared towards customers and everyday people, so they can feel more in control of their dinner plans.
Business Model:
BMC: B2C, transactional, Ecommerce, Saas Partners: restaurant owners, local government officials, colleges in the CFP, Indy residents Channels: social media, community meetings, flyers, well-known people in Indy
Marketing and Sales:
We will gain revenue from the price of SwiftLine, 99 cents. We will market the app through our partners and on social media, create an effective page on the app store, and obtain positive reviews of SwiftLine.
Progress to Date:
Did preliminary research, made a business model, wrote a press release, created an app, created a presentation, made a presentation video. Future Milestones Bring on tech/marketing experts, gain more information about local restaurants through interviews with owners, start and finish testing of SwiftLine, partner with the colleges represented in the CFP, and launch SwiftLine.
